Financial Controller
Position Summary:
Senior Manager responsible for the management and direction of all the daily accounting activities; ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner; and producing financial and other key reports for management.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead the Accounting Department staff and all financial functions: A/P, A/R, GL, and Payroll.
- Responsible for the preparation of the company’s financial statements ensuring compliance with all statutory and financial regulations.
- Manage month-end closing and year-end closing. Coordinating and assigning duties to the accounting staff as needed.
- Oversees cash flow management, improving efficiencies and reducing costs across the business.
- Evaluates departmental performance, providing training, guidance, and direction to employees to ensure all work is performed in an efficient, timely, and knowledgeable manner-while meeting overall goals and objectives.
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, IT, Operations, Safety, and Recruiting on projects, costs, controls, and reporting.
- Prepare and provide financial statements, sales reports, analysis, and other reports on a scheduled or ad hoc basis to identify trends, results, and process improvements.
- Lead the annual forecasting and budgeting process; create the annual forecast financial statements.
- Maintain good corporate relations with customers, vendors, auditors and affiliates.
- Work closely with financial institutions concerning banking activity changes, enhancements and reporting.
- Responsible for insurance renewals and amendments.
- Work directly with external auditors to ensure proper compliance with all regulations and successful audits.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration required
- Transportation industry experience preferred
- Masters Degree or CPA a plus
- Five - six years financial closing experience (month-end and year-end) required
- Minimum ten years of progressive accounting experience
- Minimum three years supervisory experience required
